My 2.3 CLK reminded me that it was time for its first service 'A'. I called up my local dealer in London - Mercedes Benz Retail - and nearly fell over when I asked how much? £240 for oil and filters plus a visual check of the car.
I called up MBOA and spoke to thelovely Pat who said that she would ring around for me. After a couple of days Pat had a fiew more prices ranging from £190 to £220.
Now £190 is a little more palatable, let alone the fact that psychologically it is below the £200 mark.
Any way I guess it staggers me that MB Retail garages ,within a 10 mile radius of each other, can charge varying service prices.
I am interested in what other similar dealers charge for their services because I think it's time to put a stop to this - if I had known the cost of a service (and my wife let me) I would have bought another Porsche.
To put it into perspective a very reputable Porsche dealer charged me £450 for a 12000 mile service on my 911. Figure that one out.
