If you live in the Yorkshire area and you take your car to a Mercedes main dealer for your servicing, I would like to recommend the following company:-

North Riding Garages Mercedes-Benz Authorised Repairer
Eastgate
YO18 7EQ Pickering
Tel. +44 1751 472251

Okay they don't have a big posh showroom for you to drowl over the latest offerings from Mercedes, but what you do get is excellent customer relations, fast efficient service, a main dealer stamp in your book and best of all your service done at a fraction of the cost of main dealers in Leeds, Bradford, Wakefield and York.

The location maybe a little inconvenient but believe me its worth the trip.

Does anybody know of similar main dealers in the UK?

As this is your first post, would you be so kind as to confirm that you have no relationship with this company, other than as a satisfied customer?

There's a list of Authorised Repairers on the MB website - they're genenerally the dealers who got canned in MB's last big reorg. There's one reasonably near me, McClean and Appleton in Macclesfield, but when I checked their price for a service it was within £5 the same price as my local MB dealer. I just wonder how up to date they'll keep themselves, and whether they get all the service bulletins etc of which Merc seem to have many.

Authorised Repairers will have access to all the same service information as a Main Dealer.

I can confirm that I have no relationship with this company, just a satisfied customer.

Rory, when I arrived at the dealership they did suggest that there was some work they needed to do on the vehicle, unfortunately I didnt ask what it was. I therefore assume they are up to date with the bulletins.

As an 'authorised' repairer scores, I assume, as they can carry our warranty work and get bulletins, however, the crucial bit is cost at the end of the day. If they are little different to dealer costs then whats the point? The indies are 1/2 the price generally so win on that argument. Can you give us an idea on what they charge?

I have an SL55 AMG and the B service cost me £375.00 inc. Okay indies are good value and prossibly provide a better service than main dealers. However, with a car under warranty authorised dealers are a must in my opinion.

£375 for a B on an SL55? - I doubt any indie would be cheaper. I paid around that for a "D" on my E270 and still have to visit the dealer for updates and warranty fixes. I may give them a look - cheers!

I thought it was a good price, I think that Ciceley in Preston are around the same price.
