My 230 SLK has a real condensation problem and I can't seem to shift it. Whenever I come back to the car, the insides of the windows and the boot are covered in a film of water....anyone else have this problem and if so, what can I do...?

Hello, your problem has come up before, with all of this rain one can get problems with water in the boot, do check in all of the corners for any water marks, also check that the heater drains are clear.

during this weather we are having causes a heat differecial between the cab and the boot area, and condensation will appear under the boot lid, the reason being that on these cars, also the SL the boot and the driving compartment are not sealed off as in a normal car.

Do check that the boot is not leaking---check the heater drain---check the passenger footwell for dampness.

Thanks for your tips; I believe the culprit that leads to this condensation is the button that allows fresh air to circulate into the car has seized as there is no movement in it. Not sure how to addresss this. I called Merc and the guy I spoke to thought that the entire heater panel would have to be replaced (ouch!). Does any one know if the switch itself can be replaced....and how do I get the console off to reach it?!!

You have to remove the radio and then the heater control panel comes out by pressing the lugs on the 4 corners.

You have nothing to lose by having a go,it must come to pieces, do be careful with the knobs they can break.
