Exhaust Emmissions

My 1995 C Class Auto 1.8 will not pass the exhaust emmission test. New Cat and lambda ftted last year (not Genuine Parts) and would only pass a non catt test. Had it tested for emmissions only recently and it will not pass, Help please, mileage 180,000

HC Max 200. Result = 126 Pass.
Lambda 0.970 to 1.030 = Result 1.028 Pass.
Second Fast Idle = CO Max 0.30. Result =0.66 Fail.
HC Max 200. Result 150 Pass.
Lambda 0.970 to 1.030. Result 1.032 Fail
Natural Idle Test. CO Level Max 0.50. Result = 0.58 Fail

exhaust emiisions is made up of many things incase you do not realise.
My car fails an MOT could be brakes, lights e.t.c just like exhaust could be CO , lambda, fast or slow idle e.t.c

to be honest, try a service , new cat and maybe some emmisons reducer in the fuel.

These cars only just get through anyway.

An Italian tune up is what I had to do, thats lock it in gear and belt it up to max RPM to clean it out, and do this just minutes before the test

Lambda 1.032 . . . . HIGH = air leak

Lambda sensor sees the extra oxygen then thinks the mixture is lean so richens it up to compensate.
This increases the CO. . .0.87 = nearly 3 times max limit
HC is the unburnt fuel 150 ppm = pass but still a little high.
