thinking about this some more, does that mean that only 1 of the tailpipes on that system is used each side at any given time?

I would think that the back box has two chambers, one that flows from the inner feed pipe through the baffle, and with the valve actuated, the second feed pipe is opened up and the exhaust is fed to the two outlets, bypassing the internal baffle.

Not sure if we are talking about the 55 exhaust layout of the c63 exhaust layout now?

The valves were sourced from a company in china 150 pounds or so each, with the Y pipe, valve and flange etc.

On mine, I am hoping they will fit in the space under the car where the middle resonator was, and then run a straight pipe parreled with the existing pipes to somwhere near the back.

They wont merge with the existing pipe like the image I posted.

on a 55 that will be a seriously nice mod!

depending on the size of the centre silencers, you may even be able to get the additional pipes to run INSIDE the old boxes, for a more factory look?
shame the rear boxes cant be bypassed when you want to wake the neighbours! ;);):rolleyes:

incidentally, where do the 'valves' come from?

Thats what I am hoping!

The Original center box is long gone, and modifying the rear backbox will be an expensive job I think, unless you look underneath the car, I dont think you will see the additional pipework, so not too worried about it looking factory.

On mine it will be bypassing the rear boxes :) I only have a rear silencer, no centre boxes.

OK, this idea has been quashed as there is simply not enough space for the valves that I already have, underneath the car.

So, I had the option of permanently loud, or permanetly factory. I have gone for permanently loud :) heh. Shame as it would have been nice to have them switchable.
