Is it common for a 5month old C220 CDI to kick out clouds of smoke when starting from cold? I haven't noticed this with other cars in it's class Audi, BMW etc....
Certainly not clouds of smoke, I think a visit to the Dealer is the first step, if he tells you its normal check out a few of his similar stock for smoking on starting..
I had it checked out and compared it to a 58 plate which was just about to leave the showroom. It emitted a similar amount of smoke to mine when warm but not as much as when I set off from cold. The dealer said this is normal?? but they would. Does anyone know if a diesel particulate filter can be retrofitted or does it need to designed in from new?
I've also had the emissions checked by an independent source which checked out Ok.
