Hi, I’ve got a glc 220 diesel amg 63 conversion, just had a stage 1 remap but would like a better sound coming from exhaust, spoke to powerflow about upgrading the exhaust and they said it would cost £699 but would not make much difference to the sound due to the dpf has anybody got any ideas thanks

Hello and welcome,

When you say "amg 63" conversion have you replaced the engine or just some trim?

It’s a diesel, and not even a V6, so it’s never going to sound like a V8 petrol no matter how much you make it look like one.

Diesels with go faster exhaust always sound absolutely awful

You’ve a car for economy it won’t make the noises you require.
Best option is to trade it for a V8 whilst you still can...
Alternatively just stick an AMG badge on the back...

A 2L diesel will never give the noise you are searching for.
I think you are throwing good money to achieve something that wont deliver the best result.

Have to disagree, a larger straight 6, V6 or V8 diesels can sound amazing.

Last time I was at MSL, a chap with a 2ltr bmw wanted to improve the sound of it.
Torqueflow did the work for him and it just sounded “weird”, bit of a mixture of a kettle boiling and a “screechy thing” screeching. ... he was told by Imran from Torqueflow before, that it wouldn’t be anything like a V petrol engine sound.. it’s what the chap wanted

4 pot diesels never sound great, however in line 5's and V8's can sound amazing.

Hi, I was quoted £700 by power flow for exhaust but they said the sound would not be much better so not going to bother

We are talking 220d here though, not a V6 or 8. I did generalize, yes, but the topic was 220d
