What are people’s recommendations for cleaning these in situ, I’ve got some Autosol.
Any other suggestions?

Mrs has this stuff that you put your chrome oven shelves in a bag and pour cleaner in, they come up spotless. Hmmm sounds like a plan, nicked some and painted it on exhaust tips. Works a treat.

We have a bloke that comes and cleans our oven & BBQ , so I’ll see if he has anything on his next visit.

Autosol and fine wire wool. Careful with caustic substances like oven cleaner. Deadly for paintwork.
One of those wire attachments on a drill works to remove carbon inside the tips.

The way I was able to clean the very neglected exhaust tips on my VW Eos was with Kitchen Scourers. They worked a treat. I had previously tried with T-Cut and Metal Polish to no effect. With the scourers the tarnish just fell off :)

Are you sure they don't come off?? If they do, then as above I would use (and have done) oven pride oven cleaner. It comes in a kit for around £10. Followed by a quick wipe over with autosol and then apply megs NX metal polish! :)

Yes they do come off, I’ve got a socket on the nut but can’t budge it.

No, I had to do the Eos in situ too, still wasn't too difficult to do though :)

Perhaps give it a spray with penetrating fluid and leave it over night and try again. Definitely worth persevering for removal, as it is easier to obtain a better finish being more comfortable when doing so.

I probably do mine every 4 months or so , it takes minutes and comes up easily with a quick shampoo when I've done the wheels and am using up the dirty soapy water

I found Autosol perfectly good, although on the 63 the tips came off easily enough to get to all the bits...

I cleaned mine but they got dirty again so didn't bother again.
