Hi,
Those that know me, and read some of my posts might of realised that i have been intending to fit these mirrors on my C43 AMG.
Well at long last, they are fitted, also with working blinking, folding and dimming.
Just a couple of pics, whats the verdict?
I,m intending to keep the original wing repeaters as well, mistake maybe?

Hi,
Thanks for the positive comments regarding my new mirrors, i,m well pleased with them, despite all research regarding pt, no's etc. i have neglescted to allow for the heated mirror glass as the w202 mirror is fed constantly and switched via a bi-metal switch when cold. This switch is located on the mirror, but the new facelift mirror glass does,nt have this switch fitted as on the facelift they are fed from the door control module.
I have 3 options that I can see,
1, Find the full load current of the 210 glass and fit a temp.operated switch to the back of the glass and wire it in series with the existing supply, this is dependant on if I can locate something suitable.
2, Locate the timed relay supply for the rear window demister and use this as a coil feed for and additional relay to switch the mirror heaters on (would only work when the heated rear window is used and would turn off, with its timer or if you switched it off manually?
3, Leave it as it is, is this really an option?

Its easiest to pick up the heated rear window as the wires run along the sills inside

It’s a shame to have done all that and not have heated mirrors for winter.
Number 1 can be done, 2 is too Mickey mouse and 3 just isn’t an option.
If you still have the old mirrors, the thermostats could be removed and adapted as your switch, however the would need to be touching the existing glass so as when the glass eventually becomes hot the will sense the heat and switch themselves off.

Hi,
Thanks for the reply.
I thought just aralditing the switch to the the back of the glass it would sense the ambient air temp. when the ambient air temp is below the switch point it would turn on, when the temp. rises switching it off again.

The ambient air temp wouldn’t be enough to cause the switch to flip off, it would probably be on all the time, the sensor feels heat from the glass, it needs to feel heat like that of the side of a cup of tea, ill get a picture and put it up and you will see better how it works.

In its dismantled state in photo, the sensor would fits on top of the switch and the high tensile metal disk flexes and flips from concave to convex, opening or closing a set of points depending on whether it feels hot glass, above 15c or cold glass below 15c temperatures.

This might not be as simple as I first thought as there will be a plastic cover covering the rear of the mirror, for this to work the metal sensor would need to be in contact with the glass so that could be a problem.

It turns out that the face lift 202 door mirror heaters are fed from the DCM same as the 210, so there is no need for me to do anything.

Hi,
I have just secured myself another set of 210 facelift mirrors (folding, blinking an dimming complete with glass) for a bargain price of £100 for the pair.
So i will be doing this mod again, intially to replace one of the existing mirrors assemblies on my AMG as it has a faulty folding mechanism, but utimately a pair will end up on my 230k.
But i,m looking for some 202 folding door mirror electrical plug bodies, these are not and were never available from MB.
Has any forum member got any broken 202 folding mirror frames that i could have the plug bodies off, or any ideas as to sourcing some?
