FAULT CODE B225464 -

B225464 The electronic steering lock has a malfunction. There is an implausible signal. It seems they tried to jump start the car with the ignition key in, and this has damaged the communication between the ignition key and the electronic steering lock.

Today my B class Mercedes wouldnt start, rang a mobile mechanic to come and do a diagnostic and he got the fault code above!

Can anyone share any light on the reason this has happened and how much the cure will be or if there is a quick fix (not hopeful on the latter)

I have no idea, this is the code he showed me today on his diagnostic unit. Ive recently had a new battery change and we did jump start the old battery. I have no other info so at a loss why this has happened

Try gently turning the steering wheel from right to left, while simultaneously turning the key carefully in the ignition. If this fails, try rocking the wheel instead, all while wiggling the key gently. Once the key turns, the steering wheel will unlock itself.
