Can anyone recommend a good, easy to use fault code reader for use on an E300TD. Also, dumb question, where is the diagnostic socket?

Can anyone recommend a good, easy to use fault code reader for use on an E300TD. Also, dumb question, where is the diagnostic socket?

Its the 38 pin socket with the round cap on top in the module/fuse box.

You can get an adaptor to convert it to the OBD2 type 16 pin jobby which on later cars is found close to the steering wheel
