Hi
car: sl500 2002

i have a battery warning light on my dashboard, i have changed my regulator but i know i have to erase the fault codes. i thought it was done by removing the AGM battery, or do i have to go to Mercedes to erase them?

Although I'm not an expert on MB cars yet, I'd say that the car still has a fault ... hence the warning light

You cannot erase this message as the alternator is not working, it will go out when working but on the 230 you have the battery inverter and the fault could be on that.

It may help if you measured the voltage over the rear battery where it should be 12.5 volts when off and 14 volts near enough with the engine running.

Have you disconnected the front battery at any time

i just drive my car and just realize and failed to mention that the amber lights on the buttons (ac, fan knob, etc) are faint in brightness. it was once bright. did this change because my cluster brightness level changed? i thoguth this was only for the dials only

Battery could do with charging perhaps since the alternator regulator has been changed

Do you have a voltmeter?
What are the readings over the battery terminals?
Should read 12.5v with engine off and 14v with engine on.

Unsure if your model would have a small battery in the front. Some cars have. Worth checking.
