hi ,i have a420 sl 1989 107 i was wondering if this could be plugged into a computer like the modern ones so you could find faults thanks in advance
regards damien
In theory, yes. It should have a 7 pin circular diagnostic plug. But in practice, I have not yet found anyone who has the relevant machine to read the codes off. I did a little research, to the point that I found a website giving instructions on how to connect a multimeter to it, but you have to count pulses of volts on/off so it looks awkward!
The plug on my 1976 car is the same as my 1990 car, so maybe the codes are the same (both Bosch Jetronic, but different variants).
Unlike newer cars, you're only able to read fault codes from the engine management.
Perhaps you're better off describing the symptoms here and maybe someone can help you out?
