Fault on opening windows from key W203

Hi, my 2001 C240 Auto will not open the windows by using the key infra red link to the door handle sometimes, yet other times no problem.
Where should I look for an intermittent fault?

Not sure you have a fault - I think there may be a timing issue. I find the same thing but I've never got round to figuiring out why. I suspect its something like, it will open, if attempted within x mins of locking, if you closed them with the remote and if neptune is near venus....or something - have a play an see if you can find out what the rules are!

You must point the remote at the sensor on the door handle. When I bought my SL in Jan., that was the only fault it had. The sensor on the drivers door did not work, so I switched it with the passenger door.
I suppose they are not that expensive (but it was a Saturday).

Have you replaced the battery in the fob.

If you need to know how to change/swap them let me know, as I photographed the whole process (less than 20 min job) (when you know how).

EDIT: If you say it's intermitant, sensor may only need to be removed and replaced to make better contact with the socket.

You could have a point there!
Although I have just tried it - the car has been locked all morning - and it worked. I always lock with the remote. I have also tried the spare fob with the same intermittent operation. Still the moon is in conjunction with........... :-?

The C class only has one on the drivers side!
It would be intersting to see how to get at it though, incae it is a dry joint or something, so a diagram/photo would be most helpful.
