Thinking of getting one of these from ebay....
http://www.ecutools.com/shop/shop.php?action=full&id=14

Anyone used one? Any good?

I am not sure if it will reset the emissions light (bottom right hand side of the dash). The manifacturer / distributor refers only to it resetting the 'check engine light'. I am not sure if that is the same thing.

I have a new MAF coming and want to be able to reset the emissions light.

thanks
Gary

Only the new C class can use this reader, there is not one fitted under the dash of the first one's, MB did not get around to fitting them till around 1999 and even then they only put them on the new models from that date.

The MAF should not put the check engine lamp on but the CO2 sensor will if its shifted much from its stored settings

Hi - mine is a late W208 CLK from 2002. I am told it works with my car.
I disconnected the maf to try and see if it would settle my poor idling. When I reconnected it the light came on - I assume disconnecting the MAF threw the mixture out?
Anyway I am fitting a new MAF in a day or two. I was just hoping that this reader would reset the emissions light.

You could have both but the 16 pin under the dash is the main one for all faults

i think all cars from 2000 must have a 16 pin OBD2 point inside the car but most makers have used them from the mid 90s

Thats correct but somehow MB escaped from doing some, the 129 was one that went on to 2002 and the 202 another,,could it have been new models from 2000 on

for a maker who has done a good few firsts like airbags ect it seems odd

I have heard that the USA market has them, and maybe all LHD cars,,,indeed the cut out were on mine but nothing behind them

Well the reader arrived today. It plugs into the car ok. It boots up ok . It doesnt however work with my car ! Thanks ebay !!! I even asked if it would work with a 230 Kompressor. I was told it would. But the unit comes up with 'err' which seems to suggest it isnt compatible with my car. Oh well. Will fit the new MAF this weekend and then find an indie to read the codes for me for a few quid.

The big problem with my car is that it throws up silly faults all the time and I just ignore them as everything works, and in my case it would need the full blown Carsoft or the launch X31

It could be OK for my Volvo to turn the engine lamp off after the MAF went down
