Hi
I hope you guys can help me.I have a 1996 S280.The fuel gauge sticks around the 3/4 mark.It only moves slightly lower or above the 3/4 mark regardless of the amount of fuel in the tank. The problem is i cant really tell how much fuel i have and im afraid i might run out of fuel at any point. When i turn on ignition it goes from zero to 3/4 and stays there. Is it possible for the fuel warning light to illuminate whilst the gauge is on 3/4?What could possibly be the problem here?
The other thing is yesterday the oil light came on and i checked the oil and it was indeed very low BUT the oil gauge on the dash was on 3 showing that it was full.Hope you can help

first of all

the oil pressure gauge will not tell you the quantity of oil lube.

it's just telling you the pressure of oil lube.

the oil light is separate , it will indicate the light when
it's level lower than minimum.

about the fuel gauge , you have to remove the level sensor unit
from the tank and check.
for sure there is some thing wrong inside .
example some rust on wires make it sticky and not move up and down.

if cannot fix it better to buy new one.

you should go to the back, open the hood.

you need adjustable wrench at least 15"inches length ,to

unscrew the plug that lock the sensor unit.

after that, slowly take it of ,use a bowl for exceed fuel.

Where exactly in the hood can i find the plug?dont know how it looks like so maybe if someone can tell me or has a diagram it will be helpful.Suppose fuel is low in the tank and im using the reserve, will the fuel warning light illuminate (even if the gauge is stuck on 3/4).?

Thumbs up Television.:p:p
Managed to remove the sender unit as per instructions.
The sender seems to be intact though and the float inside it is moving up and down freely.
What really goes wrong with these senders if they are faulty?Coz if i look at mine theres nothing to suggest that its faulty.

The float can be checked on an ohmmeter, where moving the float it should read smoothly from zero ohms to the max reading

Fitted new sender today but still no change. The gauge is still going straight to 3/4 again.Any ideas now that it seems the sender is not the problem?

I removed wires on the sender and the gauge rests just above the 1/4 mark.
