back passenger side window doesnt go down/up at all. when i press the button i can hear the motor whirring away but no window up and down action happening.

My bro in law said something about it needing a new cable or something, is this what is wrong?

I have just changed the regulator on the rear near side door of my W210. Same symptoms......whirring motor and a window that won't move.....found the cable had snapped and wrapped itself around the pulley. You can't change just the cable, you have to buy a regulator. You don't have to buy a motor though as this just bolts onto the regulator with 2 bolts.

If it's the same as the 210 you will need some fairly hefty pop rivets and a pop rivet gun as that's how the regulator is held to the door.......(5 of them if I recall correctly).....not a difficult job.....and these cable regulators are much easier to do and much simpler in operation than the old scissor type!

Euro car parts said they didn't stock one for mine so I had to go to my main dealer.....price wasn't too bad though.....about £60 as I recall........

Ebay have a few dealers that sell brand new regulators for about £50. An independant Mercedes place near me just quoted £390 to replace both rear regulators! The motors are fine!
