Has anyone had any experience of fitting/running a Fuel burning heater to a ML270 or any other diesel merc. I sold my freelander TD4 recently and kept the heater as is was in my opinion the best thing since sliced bread. You could time the heater to come on 20 mins befor you leave for work on a frosty morning, and your cabin and engine were lovely and warm when you got in. mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
The unit is a webasto thermotop Z, and it would be great if someone has fitted this or a similar unit to a ML. Any help or ideas would be great, even if its only to get thoughts on the pro's and con's of such an idea.:?:

MB's use the same heaters and there is a retro fit for most cars. It is featured in WIS

Thats great, you wouldn't be able to tell/show me where they fit this on the ML would you Television? . This would save me an awful lot of work looking for a suitable place to mount the unit.

Thanks for the info. Looks like the ML in the picture is a LHD version with the absence of the brake master and servo. Does this matter, or is the proximity of the heater to the brakes not going to be a problem?

Fartypants.
I agree with you those heaters are great.I had one in my petrol 124 here in Russia. Temps would be -30C in winter & I would set the timer 1hr before going to work. The car would be thawed out, warm inside & engine already up to 60deg & ready to go. There are dealers in UK for Wabesto as I was once going to buy a thermal fuse for mine.Maybe they could offer you some advice. The Wabasto site was www.webasto.co.uk. they were very good advising me with a problem I had.

Its the only thing that I do nor have on my SL leaving me with a blank button

Dont worry about the LHD bit if it goes in one it will go in the other.

In Sweden I used the electric block warmer, but the Webasto are much more convenient .

You will do it OK and good luck with it

I know, time goes by, you will think of something for me, If I fit a speed camera in the ashtray I could use it to turn it off and on
