A bent rod is a weakened rod and can fail at a later date due to forces not being worked in a straight line
Meh, if the engine has to come apart I'll wait until it blow the rod through the block. I'm sure it will be fine though.

I once bent the con rod on a 300td, only noticeable by a bit more diesel knock at idle. That did 30,000 before it was sold on.

I’m sure it’ll be ok.

Whilst possible it's not overly likely to have bent a rod.
I'm sure it'll be fine.

I will let everyone know, as always.

Big screw in my tyre today on the m25 queue "tyre defect, check tyres" on dash, so at least my luck is consistent.

bummer

find some other project to work on, at least with the awful weather expected, you don't need to stress over a lack of traction

Time to pull the head off the diesel bike just to replace the thermostat housing (thanks kubota), I can put up a gazebo for that one.

Injectors fitted (arrived saturday). Some very odd behaviour. Think I have cracked it. Update to follow

So injectors fitted. First turn of the key, car ran like absolute CRAP, misfiring on 1 2 7 8

Reset adaptions, started up again, once again running like crap.

Opened the oil filler and blown away with the smell of petrol. Sump must have had a litre or so of petrol in it, so much petrol in fact that it was causing misfires.

Changed oil/filter and running smoothly again. Apparently no bent conrods so happy days there.

Misfire still there however so off to MSL as I have reached the limit of my expertise.

I still think I have a point, the have just bodged up some map on the back of a fag packet - tuning to death so much, they have the injector timing overlapping, its trying to open before the last signal to close has been completed

bigger injectors (flowing more fuel), a supplementary injector or less ambition, sounds like the right course of action

Injector duty cycle doesn't go past 85% on this map, but try telling them there's a problem with the map or that it needs tweaking. It gets you nowhere and is very frustrating.

In addition this engine/platform has been tuned quite a bit by EC so its had a fair amount of testing.
