Buy the engine oil and air filter from MB they are the best by a long way, and not expensive.

Re the oil,,you can use oil that meets 229.3 though you can now buy 229.5 and this is the newest version

One and paper type but different sizes, so bring along you VIN.

Don't see the point of spending on expensive oil, after one year, you have to drain away, money down the drain.

Yes,but what unseen nasties does cheap oil do to your expensive engine in that one year?

Sorry,C220GJS-didn't see your post.(Edit)

The oil is the cheapest form of protection that you can get, these engines are designed to run on the correct oils.

Perhaps you did not know but even a Ford must have the correct oil as special additives are in that oil and forms part of the correct maintenance program

On all MB engines use the correct oil, and the spec is in my first post

which oil

hi, and welcome
ref oil, everybody has there own view, for me it would have to be mobil 1, 0w40 fully synthetic, cold starts and the long life of the oil means it protects your engine, and if you are intent on keeping the car for a while i think its a good investment, if you change your oil filter every 3000 mls your engine should last without major work, some MB dealers use mobil 1.

Yes absolutely, when Mobil 1 oil became so expensive (Costco £24) many dealers moved over to Shell Helix, its still 229.5 spec
