Haven't owned a Porsche or an Aston Martin yet. The GT3 does greatly appeal but alas I think my 'supercar' days are trundling to a close due to finances, practicality etc. I was close to pulling the trigger on a Rapide (with excuse to SWMBO it has rear seats) before the i8 but just couldn't justify the enormous running costs and potential for unreliability (having been there already ).
I could likely justify a 911 as a weekender when I get a second practical car too next year....let's see, a lot happens in a year

That’s a good option Alistair, but, will the discs then stand up to the job or would you recommend upgrading them too?

Yes they'll cope fine. Obviously the discs themselves will wear faster but that's much cheaper than fitting a big brake kit.

As for Porsches I've also never been a fan. For me the 911 has always been an example of engineering overcoming a fundamentally flawed design.
I do like the 928/944/968 and to a lesser extent Cayman/Boxster but there are other cars I'd have in preference. Drove a friend's 918 Spyder and was underwhelmed.

Jim on his own admission drives the car like he's stolen it :D
He does , but so do lots of other people across different car makes and they don’t have very early on brake judder ?
So it’s unlikely it’s anything to do with driving style , in my humble opinion of course .

I always have, and this is the first car I've ever had any issues with, which was not a mechanical fault, like a seized caliper, warped disc etc... In saying that, it's also the first car I've owned with the HOLD feature/function, kind of says it all really.

Thanks for that vote of confidence Wighty. :D

Move the damaged wheel to another corner and see if issue moves from offside front to wherever you placed that wheel

I usually change my alloys at the end of each autumn and put on a different set with winter tyres fitted. This made no difference to the judder, hence my suspicion that the problem was not related to the damaged, repaired and realigned wheel. :(

My winter wheels (front near side) had a bend on the inside after an interface with a particularly bad pothole on a bend in Scotchland (couldn’t avoid as car coming the other way over the white line on my side).
Due to lack of income I decided to “straighten” it myself - no loss if it didn’t work - and with application of some wood and a very large hammer it become much closer to round again :)

I’ve only just taken them back off having covered >6,000 miles over winter and didn’t have any judder or vibration at all from the front (or anywhere else).

I’ll use it again this winter

Ah yes. The old percussive maintenance! Funny thing is, it usually works! :D:geek:
