just purchased a 2002 C220CGi 4 door saloon, am loving how solid the car feels found on Ebay private sale £400 ...YES... it has an engine and wheels, but i think i sm going to need some help and advice with some (hopefully)small issues

ty for the welcome, one issue i have with the car is passenger front door locking .. it doesnt always lock but csn be locked manualyand unlocks on the remote also when starting off the anti hijacking chatters so any thoughts are welcome

I had a w202 c180 "classic" Loved it just a shame mine was manual, i should have bought a auto as it was like doing a River Dance on hill starts lol

I was also confused, should it not be a C180 or C200 if it was petrol? The C220 was diesel.

There was a 2.2 16v m111 petrol, But i didnt think it was Direct injection CGI to early for that.

The m271 much later were CGI models

appologies ... it is a C220CDi 2147cc diesel automatic it has covered 99,300 miles which from what i have seen is about run in for these engines

Hi Spencer. Alarm module failure is very common at that age. Damp gets in and can cause all sorts of wacky things to happen with locking and anti theft system, think its behind the drivers side wheel arch liner on your car.

i am lucky enough to live not far from an independant merc specialist by the name of Hook who has a very good reputation

Not really, if you open it up it may be obvious as there are batteries inside that leak and damage the PCB.

another issue which may or may not be related is the multichanger (the previous owner said wasnt working) it was working ok when i got home it stopped working the following day and has now started working again
