Hi everyone, after owning a Mercedes A180 (2008 model) for around 13 years i have an issue that I'm finding difficult to resolve. The wing mirror indicator was not working so today i have replaced the lamp unit only with a Mercedes original part. The new indicator is performing just like the old one! It does not indicate when switched on or the hazards are activated. However, when the car is locked and the mirrors fold in the mirror indicators flash to confirm the car is locked. Please can anyone advise further? Thanks & regards,

Hello Blobcat, thanks for the welcome and quick reply. The replacement lamp flashes when the mirrors fold on locking the car. Is it the same wires for both actions? Thanks again

Possibly the indicator stalk is faulty, not the LED's?

That's a strange one, Try gently tapping it with your hand whilst the indicator is working and see what happens.

I don’t know the wiring of the mirror, so can’t say if the wires are the same. We get quite a lot of mirrors with broken wire. Do the other functions all work with the mirror?

Can you fold the mirror and then try the indicator? I was thinking along the same lines as Blobcat

Tried this and initially it worked but only momentarily. It is the right hand side, driver's door mirror indicator. The indicator worked for about 20 seconds with the mirrors folded in so thanks also for the idea. I'm thinking it might now be a job for an auto electrician as I don't know how difficult changing wires might be!

As it is the driver's side, I suspect a tiny break in one of the wires going through the A pillar. to the wing mirror.

Thanks mattkh. Do you know how difficult will it be to change it? Thanks again

I have seen an auto electrician solder it, but you have to use a gas soldering iron for some reason.

You don't have to have a gas iron, it's just a lot easier than having trailing wires everywhere. Also gas irons can be hotter which is important when working outside...

Just curious, did you find the issue? Fixed? I have exactly the same problem with drivers side on my B Class w245 and it's driving me round the twist. Have checked wires with multimeter and all seem to have continuance.
