The car is amazing in everyway and everything that I wanted.

BUT.................(I might be picky here)............ imagine your driving along in C mode traffic comes to a stand still and you brake and the car stops, the traffic moves 5ft and you coast along. wishing that 2/3mph window the car has a slight judder but soon at you reach around 4mph or put your foot on the accelerator its as smooth as silk. I did notice this on the way home but sitting in the car for 6 hours and it being new I dismissed it. Yesterday and today it's the same, not horrible but noticeable. When its in S mode the car pulls off very smooth but louder obviously.

I have a mate in Newcastle that has one and asked I to see if its the same and he said its exactly the same. Weird design fault from a 100k plus car. if im correct this car has no torque convertor and a MCT wet clutch? just one of the things I guess has to be S mode round town :p:p:p

Do the revs increase slightly when you select Sport mode if so it may just be the lower throttle setting causing the slight hesitation

I think it does to be fair. it's only when coasting along, The wife doesn't notice it but I do, other than that I can't find any other flaws :p

A quick read online and yes it's a wet type clutch affair , one author stating the points of contact of the clutches can be manually adjusted and gear changes can be adapted. Obviously a specialist field of expertise. Quite a few complaints about snatching from 3rd to 2nd also.

very interesting, sounds about right the snatching gears I haven't noticed as yet. one thing iv noticed is it a B*****d to park in any kind supermarket or car park. the 360 camera makes it slightly easier but do you trust it :D.
if I notice it getting worse ill be taking it in for a check over, just seems strange how the s class is meant to be all comfort and luxury but actually feels like a
a auto box is about to stall. (bit dramatic)

No it definitely should not judder in C or any other setting, it may mean the transmission mounts are on their way out, or the prop shaft vibration damper. I have no idea the above is total guesswork, but there was a prop shaft vibration damper on my SL55 which was starting to break up, so I got a clunk sometimes.

Hopefully an easy fix, worth taking it to a reputable independent near you for a quick look over on a ramp.

I thought the same thing, but why does setting C to S make any difference surely the clutch would engage in the same way? I read about the auto brake function having an effecto_O

Do you know if the gear changes are sononid controlled? Maybe time for an oil change ??

C to s will possibly differ in the speed at which the gears engage and disengage , controlled by the ECUs. Try sports + it's mental

Sport setting generally uses a lower gear ie 1st and Comfort 2nd gear so the slightly higher gear ratio may cause the drivetrain to judder (semi stall) at lower speeds it may just be that the gear ratio is slightly high - does Daveenty’s car have the same characteristics if not it would be a good idea to compare the two gearbox specifications

Full service done 250 miles pre collection from MB inc trans service. I went the MB carlisle today to get a print out to be sure and it all seems to fit out. although there is a few little gaps. but the milage seems ok. IMG_2826.JPG

It’s certainly been cared for terrific service history synthetic oil doesn’t degrade as quickly as mineral oil so nothing to worry about at all re the slightly extended intervals

All very reliable. Just the usual m157 things, so crank breather leaks etc. your lucky as pre facelift car has ABC, far superior to airmatic on the later ones.

Keep on top of servicing etc and it will be reliable. We look after one chaps and he does 30k a year. He has had it since new, now on 150k no issues apart from maintenance
