flashing lights on w202

my c class year 95 has this problem since i had the car, im just wondering does any one know what it could be,the lights on the heater control knobs keep flashing real fast, i dont even have the lights on, it happens the odd time, and my instrument cluster gauges dont work some times, till i give it a bang, and they would pop up. thanks for your help

Alright mate,

I have the same problem with my c-class, but found the problem was was the loose wiring connecter, that connect to the back of the instrument panel.
Its a bit of a pain, but you try moving the wiring connecter, from left to right with the ignition you should see it stop flashing, in the mean time, until you get new instrument panel or sort the connection.
