My 1992 SL500 has all it's indicator lights flashing, (no it's not the hazard lights as it's much faster). It's almost as if the car is in alarm mode however there is no noise. Some has suggested the alarm siren unit under the near side front wheel could be the cause. It was claimed that if the siren unit developed a fault that it assumes that it is being tampered with and trips the alarm, however since the siren unit is faulty that it makes no noise.

Any suggestions please, paul

but this car does not have the siren you are thinking of.

as a 1992 car it will have the dealer retro fitted alarm manufactured by the same company that produced scorpion branded products.

it could still be a siren fault, but more likely to be something else and the siren is just coincidentally u/s. the siren will be mounted under the bonnet somewhere, they used various locations.

it is possible to turn off this alarm system with the small cylinder key, socket usually in the back of the siren or in the glove box. however this often is not enough to solve the problem, i would recommend total removal - as usual - takes upto 2hrs depending on which modules are fitted and how many immobiliser circuits etc.

just to be sure, do you have the silver stickers in the windows that say fitted with approved mercedes alarm system?

do you have the red/green lights in the rear view mirror / door handles?
