W210 E240 1998 .
Randomly almost once a day my hazards start to flash and occasionly the interior courtesy lights come on and everything stays on until I unlock and relock the car. Luckily people notice and knock on the door to let me know. This happens at any time of the day or night, windy or not basically whenever. HELP please.

Hi,
Still could be an alarm fault as the sirens failing, due to water ingress is quite a common occurance.
Try and close all your heater vents, and put tape over your internal movement sensors of the alarm.
Worth a go.
Have a similar fault with my C43 but mine only happens within 30 seconds of locking the car, and i do know that my siren does,nt work or is disconnected.
If i sort mine out soon i,ll post what i,ve found.

One of your door contact switches are faulty. Causing the light to come on and the alarm to activate. I suspect the siren is faulty aswell.

I'd plump for the alarm too. It's the only thing that covers all those aspects. There is no connection I am aware of between the hazard lights and interior light other than the alarm, plus, the interior light would go off automatically after a while if the car was putting it on (times out even with the door open).
I have has the door locks pop up and interior light come on randomly on a 210 and that was, as blackc55 says, a door pin switch, but it shouldn't put the hazards on, especially when the car is driving and re-locking shouldn't affect it, unless you've opened and closed the doors. I'd start with the alarm.

I'll check the door pins first . I know the siren works as it went off when I lowered it off a rear end ramp yesterday while I was looking at the rust (sigh happy days). Thanks so far

Further to last. I locked the wife in the car and the alarm goes off as expected with movement.
Where are the door pins??

by the strike plates on the B pillar.

If the door locks don't pop up as you're driving (especially round a roundabout or up a ramp) then I very much doubt it is the pins.

Has anyone resolved this problem where each and every time you lock the car using the key-fob the hazard lights start flashing at twice the normal speed, the interior light comes on and there's no alarm sounding?

I have a 2002 C-Class which has four contact switches on the doors and one on the LHS of the bonnet. If it is a swithc, as suggested in this thread, how can I test each switch to see if it is one of these?

If it's just a case that the alarm is actually going off, why isn't there any sound? Could there be a problem with the alarm unit?

I have replaced the battery thinking that this was the problem (car had been idle for 4 days) but obviously this has had no effect. At the moment I lock the car using the key and not the key-fob as this doesn't arm the alarm. I don't fancy a trip to a Main dealer due to hassle and cost! I doubt whether any of this could be picked up on a diagnostic test, or could it?
