The alarm on my w211 just went off for no reason. Unlocked the car with the key fob, but the lights in the rear view mirror are flashing.

What does it mean, and how do I stop it?

I think the siren could have failed upsetting the alarm

Thanks TV, but it was the siren that alerted me. It had a new one less than a year ago as well. Not that this means it has not failed again....

Flashing has stopped, but the alarm has sounded again since.

Reckon it is alarm related then?

Unless there is an insect in the fan unit in the mirror housing,,, if the siren has been replaced then it might be a case of plugging into STAR to see what is going on
