Normally not a problem, apart from not one of my friends had a charger, so have had to buy one. I cant remember the last time I had to charge a battery.

Car has been left for a few months now, but I have always gone out and had the engine running 15 minutes every 2 weeks, but christmas panic and just forgot. Anyways, the battery is compleatly flat. Now I found a battery in the boot, but this appears to be fully charged, says my RAC charger.
I cant get into the car as the central locking isnt working, and my key thing on the remote wont go inside the door lock. Can open the boot but not the door.
Is there a battery under the bonnet, and if so , any idea how I can get to it, apart from breaking a window.

thanks.

Something wrong here. the battery cannot be charged have you tried unlocking the car with the charger joined up,

If you spray some silicon into the drivers door lock it will open

the battery in the boot IS the battery and even if the reading from it seems 'ok' its probably duff, old batteries with a dead cell will not let the C180 start, I had this problem before and it was solved very easily with a new battery.

the fact that this is in a car that isn't been driven could just mean that it needs a real charge (long drive)

on the passenger door of the car will be a key hole, use it to gain unpowered entry into the car,

cheers

Ah, well thats good, so there isnt a battery under the bonnet.
I'll try and charge up the boot battery again then. Or may have to change it.
For some reason I cant get the key into the door keyhole, it just seems stuck. Key works ok in the boot, so its the right key.
Will just have to get it charged, and use the remote locking key.

Anything else I need to do once I get it charged up?

Just thankful there isnt a battery under the bonnet, cause I cant get in there.

The point is that it will open, just with the charger connected on the remote

Hi,
Don,t your rear seats fold down? crawl through to the rear passenger compartment and open a rear door from the inside.
But as Malcolm says with the charger connected to the battery it should operate the central locking.
