Hi everyone probably there's a thread about this already but can I ask a few straight forward questions.
I get the impression the coils need replacing but should I look at the plugs first and do those? Also can coil blocks be bought separately to the bank of six in the scaffold?
Also could the problem be the factory fault between the banks i.e. air flow sensor.
Or could it be the other fault which is the loom becoming wet under the fuse-box area?
Or is it an overheated catalytic converter, because its so close to where the loom is located its known to bare back all the wires?

So I guess plugs are where to start.
The car is a mint 1993 S600 with 95,000kms and was bought new in NZ where I live.

Welcome Steve,

Best to pin point the problem,(will get expensive otherwise) is there an Independent Mercedes Specialist local ? STAR should narrow down the culprit.

Also

Have a look on you tube "S600 coil pack" couple of vids showing how to repair.

I would do a star test first, sounds more probable the engine harness is breaking down.

Can't help on the engine issue I'm afraid but welcome from another Kiwi (Devonport born, Sunnynook raised).

As above- it's a great big guessing game until you get the fault properly diagnosed, and the codes read. Having seen other similar V12 threads on here, there are so many things it can be , and all are potentially expensive. Some try to guess and replace bits only to find that didn't fix it.

and welcome, by the way.
