A few years ago, from out of the office widow, we watched a female driver lock her car and the DAILY routine she had. She went round the car THREE times - Top of window, door handle, top of window, door handle, top of ............... ad nausium.

That would be funny to watch if she had keyless go, as she would never get it to lock

Yeh, Yeh, Yeh! What everrrr (as my girls would say)

If one of the doors isn't properly closed the indicators will flash but the mirrors will not fold.

It's just a gimmic but I like it and find it reassuring, I don't feel I need to justify the mod :D

Hi there,

I am opening an independent Mercedes specialist in a months time, if you can wait for your service till then I will charge IRO £175 for an A service and IRO £250 for a B service. Basic services, Dependant on mileage and age you may need extras. Detail of these can be found in the back of your service record.

Great news but my service indicator shows that I need an "A" service in 19 days times and I have a warranty which states that I must have a service done within the stated time, do you think this may this be a problem?

Don't let them put you off. There is a great myth that indies are so much cheaper. I have just had the annual A service done on my E220cdi estate and it cost just over £200 inc vat. And for that price they collect and deliver or give you a loan car; and you get free breakdown service in UK and Europe; and a 30 year rust guarantee; and they valeted the car when they'd finished; and fitted free, new stronger gas-filled struts to the tailgate as well as doing any other updates that were needed. Great value IMO. And a box of Thorntons chocolates as I left.

Your Kidding Me!!!
everything else i can believe except the box of Thorntons!!!!

To be honest you're SL isn't exactly normal, as its brabus tuned (and not the usual D6 tuning box type either) and if I were you I'd really find a Brabus specialist/dealer to deal with the car, or an MB dealer with Brabus experience. I'd phone around a few MB dealers in you're area and try and ascertain which ones are comfortable working on a "proper" Brabus car.

Hi ST4, I had looked into this and I was told that for normal "A" and "B" service (lubrication service ect) was as specified for the standard SL55, considering that the main dealers don't do that that much during the lubrication services I feel that it would ok for any of the main dealers to do a lubrication service on my or any other brabus tuned car. I must say that the dealer near me used to service it for the original owner from new and I am the second owner.

On a 2004 car you are OK, all DAS11 and 111 are key dependent on all driver functions, you have a his and hers keys programmed totally independent, you have the same on keyless go as well.
The OP's problem is that the 2003 cars were not sold with this function

Thanks TV, that's useful information.

I haven't programmed the second key yet because herself doesn't like driving the Merc, so there's no real point. Herself didn't like driving my previous 3.0 ltr. Sport Premium X-Type Jag either - mind you, neither did I.

MERCEDES E220 SALOON EXECUTIVE 2008 (58)
Hi Malcolm, I have Mercedes E220 CDI Executive. Strange, there is no Folding mirrors in that car, eventhough it looks so luxury. Each time I get out of the car, I have to fold the side mirrors manually. Setting manu doesn't show option CONVENIENCE where I could set it up for Aut close when lock the car. Don't know if the mirrors have motors inside or that;s the way they should be. Do you have any idea how much would it cost If I were to replace those side mirrors with Folding Mirrors? I also need that Chrome moulding on the sides of the car as AVANTGARDEs normally come with? Please advise. Thanks

The memory package for front seats, steering column and folding mirrors was an optional extra on all cars in the range, you could have them retro fitted

Your car is too new for my data base, the mirror inside components will need to be changed, the switch will fit where it should be on that car.

This maybe a good point in time to ask if you can have the new mirrors that are not so noisy as the originals, but I do not know on that.

I will ask a friend if the retro is possible
