Lets face it handbrakes are ugly things, my SL would look horrible with lever in the middle, and any way when I am putting my make up on both hands are occupied, but my left foot isnt

But when you look in the mirror Malcolm, both of you are reflecting!

Wonder what model Mercedes he has?

Do recall hiring a Citroen people wagon and picking it up at Nice Airport and couldn't find the expected handbrake. Turned out to be a button.

PS From memory its extremely difficult if not impossible to chage your name on this forum?

Actually it is very easy. You just ask the moderator to change your name to one your prefer and a few hours later its done.

Do not worry about the banter that goes on with the forum,,when I bought my 1st MB I could not get the ignition key out of the lock when I tried to fill up, and I had to drive to the rear of the garage to play :(

It was not such a daft post as you are all trying to make out. Recently kids tried to make off with a Merc at a petrol filling station , the owner had gone into the kiosk to pay leaving the keys in the ignition. The illegitemi were still trying to work out how to get the parking brake off when the owner got back and clobbered them.

Likewise, I once borrowed a works van in the late 80's, some sort of Japanese thing with a handbrake that pulled out from the dashboard (imagine pulling something similar to an umbrella handle towards you). To release it you had to pull it slightly, twist it 90 degrees then let go.

Does anyone need a better reason to own a Merc than this:D

I take it you have not driven a 2CV or a Renault 4 then.:D
