I know an Ilmoor engine isn't really built by Mercedes, but I will be rooting for Lewis Hamilton in his McLaren Mercedes next week in Australia.
If he can even keep Fernando the masterful in sight, he will be doing well.
Can't wait for the new F1 season!

I'm very taken with the new Vodafone add for Mr Hamilton. Lets jut hope he's not as useless as Jenson Button.

The really anoying thing is, of course, that the first grand prix of the season happens to fall on Mothers day! I have already pointed out to my dear grey haired old wrinkly that if she wants me to make dinner she's going to have to wait until after I've watched the GP. Having said that, I have Sky+ so I can fast forward the boring bits. Should only last about 5 minutes then....

I'm just so glad I live in a sports free home :-D

My son spent all of Saturday and Sunday stuck in front of the TV at his house watching rugby and football, both of which I can't stand.

Although my other half does like watching the Grand Prix he usually forgets when it's on and I deliberate forget to remind him ;)

F1 is the only sport I do watch. I don't do football or Rugby either. And when they start refering to Golf, Snooker and Darts as sports I just get cross. The later are bar games, not sports. And where is the sport in walking around what used to be beautiful countryside in Rupert-the-Bear trousers, or worse still being driven around in an electric buggy!!??

I have Sky+. I won't watch it live because I can't be arsed to get up and Sky+ lets me fast forward through all the adds

Live race Sunday 18 March 0200-0505 ITV1 - sod that!

Race re-run Sunday 18 March 1610-1830 ITV1 - during dinner.

See that proggie this week on ITV about Lewis Hamilton?

Watched the repeat last night on something or other, and I have to say that he came across as a really nice kid. Extremely talented, didn't brag about it. He showed total respect for Alonso as well.

Will be watching with interest this season, and hoping they've got their reliability issues sorted.

I think it was Damon Hill who said this week that Button has the talent to be world champion but he'll never do it with Honda.

I'm inclined to agree.

I'm not sure he does have the talent. He qualifies really well and then just goes off the boil after about 5 laps in teh race. That can't be all down to the car, I can't believe it wont last more than 5 laps. Honda aren't exactly new to F1.

Still, I think it's fairly likely that Damon Hill knows more about these things than I do ;)

Nice to see that in Practice Hamilton was 3rd fastest after the 2 Ferrari's. Not sure what that says about Alonso.

Well, I reckon the boy came good.

Hamilton's bold move at the first corner showed just what he is made of. Alonso didn't seem too happy afterwards either - because he knows what he's got to deal with for the rest of the season. Of course the undisputed champ would want to look so ordinary next to a total rookie.

I can't wait for round two, that is as long as Ferrari don't get too dominant.
