So is the S211

Yup this is true... Still load of space ( I love this car!) but I am going to see as I need to take the wheels and also the winter tyres I have to go on them to the local garage to be fitted...will see how many will fit before I have to remove the kiddy seats and fold the, flat

Ok, you win I did have to fold the rear seats. Or risk cracking the rear screen..

Many thanks for all your replies to my post. In the end I had the mounted tyres delivered to my home instead of courier depot pick-up.

130nM is not an easy torque to manage unless you have a long torque wrench. I had bought a good quality (long) torque wrench and a spin-bar nut wrench as I will be swapping to and from winter wheels/tyres twice yearly.

My heart was in my mouth as I presented the first wheel as the "winter wheels" were 1"diameter smaller and they had to fit over the "AMG" sized brake callipers which normally take my 18" AMG wheels.

All went well and I'm pleased with the ride sound and comfort. I have had a single wheel slip when pulling away hard in the wet but I'll accept this if the claimed snow performance is good.

I was gob-smacked when, after rolling the dismounted AMG wheels and tyres into my garage, I saw how massive the 265 rears looked. Are such wide tyres necessary on cars on UK roads?

Yes you don't realise how large these tyre and wheel combinations are until you have them off the car.

Initial wheel slip is probably due to the release agent having not worn off the tyre as yet.

As Chris in the above post the tyres will take 200 miles to bed in.

Yes the large rears are like a disease now,,, mine have all been 285,,,,very expensive motoring when most of us never use the benefit from them

I love wide rear tyres, awesome dry weather grip....

I got all four tyres into my C class etstate, but I needed to fold the seats but all in no bother.

You wait till you have to replace them ;)

They are only 255/R17. Not that dear, mid range ones are about £110 for a decent make like Falken, Khumo or Vredestrein

My last ones for the SL were £300 each and they lasted 12k miles

Buy a C class estate 204 AMG sport like mine and you will be found.

There really is no finer car money can buy....

You're right of course Steve.

Now go back to your colouring book..

There really is no finer small and therefore slightly useless estate car money can buy....

Fixed that for you Steve ;)

I know, out of loads of MB models from A150 to CLS55 that I've drove this is the best blend of economy, space, comfort, handling etc.

Mine is in the correct colour scheme of silver, nothing needs coloured in:confused::confused:
