Headlamp switch

Tried to find this on my E500, I can hardly see the back of the light (Xenon). I took the cover off but there is no view of the inside of the housing because the engine and stuff are in the way. I am reluctant to just go probing around with my fingers knowing that there are high voltages around so it looks like my Mercedes Lakeside will get a visit before I go to France.

Xenon headlights adjustment

Hi guys,

After some great pointers from many of you, I have managed to locate the lever on my Xenon headlights (2005 C220 CDI).
After removing the black cover at the rear of the headlight (on the main headlight) look for the yellow warning triangle stuck onto the light unit. I used my wife's compact mirror to look to the left and right of this central light to find the lever. Unfortunately when you feel for the lever you obscure the view with your hand, and it's a tight fit to get your hand in the gap. The lever feels like a metal/plastic square object, and it makes a distinctive click/snap as you push it up (UK) or down (Europe).
From what I understand, if you cannot find a lever at all, the lights may be self leveling and/or you would need to take the car into a MB dealer.

Martin

W204 C Coupe 2015 C250
All,
This is my first post.
I am just about to pick up a 07 C200K Coupe as a replacement car for our trusted Passat.
The C class has std halogen headlights.
We are of to France in 3 weeks time and I need advice on beam deflectors, does the
C200 have this magic lever or am I just better using the beam deflectors form local Halfords/Motor factor............Many thanks

Mark.

Hi Mark and welcome to the Forum.

Malcolm has answered your question but I thought I would just say hello anyway.

If you by converters, keep a stiff sheet of plastic (the sort of sleeve used for filing papers is fine) and stick the converters on that when you come back. You will get several uses from a set.

Damn, why didn't I realize that? Great suggestion Thumper - I owe you a beer!!

So the blade cost say £25 and a beer £3 just got to work out how many sweeps a blade does in a lifetime to see if that is viable, I will post back in 2015 as I have just bought new blades

So now you want me to amortize the cost of a beer over how many years?

Am taking my 107 500 SL with me to France and as it's being permanently exported I have had to get a certificate from Mercedes in France to confirm it is correct for their roads. Have had to change the headlight lenses to LHD ones and get a letter from my local dealer to confirm. Picked up a used set quite cheaply and will keep the RHD ones should I bring it back some day.

Changing the lenses completely is an option if you are thinking of extended periods of continental driving.
