Hi all,
I have been a member for years but haven’t used the forum for probably 10 years.
I have been looking at E55 (W210) adverts for months now but the good ones are soooo expensive on dealer websites.
I like the W211 too but I think the 210 is a better investment, or at least will become classic sooner.
Any top tips gratefully received.
Thanks
Steve

Welcome to the forum Steve.
The supercharged W211 E55 is a huge leap above a W210 in both performance and design IMO. It's certainly a step back from your CL500.
Finding a rust free W210 is getting much harder too and as you have noticed, the good ones command high prices.

Go for the CL55 instead. Some good ones out there :)

An S class would be a better investment than a W210, as these are mostly rust buckets now. The W210 is probably the worst Mercedes ever produced as it was one of the first to be designed by accountants rather than engineers.

I’ve just looked at your ad. I don’t know much about them but that looks lowered, or is that normal?

Aren’t E55 W210s going to go up in value as they become rare?

It’s lowered on links... it can be put back to standard in 15mins! It has height adjustable settings as standard, the pictures show the lowest setting, there are two higher settings.

In terms of telling you more, there are less than 60 left on howmanyleft.com and these “big” mercs seem to skyrocket when they get older. Mine is in tanzanite blue (exceptionally rare colour!) and with the original two piece s65 AMG wheels which are over £2000 alone, if you can find a set!

Fewer than 2000 CL’s on the roads now.

Disagree, I have had a few 210's and apart from the rust, they are excellent cars. Unfortunately the rust is a big issue but affects all models around that year.

^ I'm with Alex. Rust aside, I also think the W210 is a great car. Very solid and comfortable cars.

I regretted chopping in my E55 (210). It was a fully loaded facelift (featured on fifth gear a few times). I know the dealer I sold it to left it in a parking lot for 3 years to rot!!! argh

^ It is a shame. You only have to look and see what pristine W210 E55's are fetching now.
I was checking on the MOT site last night for my W210 E280 I sold before I got my current car.
No sign of it which is a pity if its been disposed of. It was pretty immaculate when sold.

Agreed. I regret trading my E300TD Avantgarde many years ago. Having had wings and bonnet replaced the rot finally got to me. I wish I’d had it sorted and kept it. Hindsight is a wonderful thing.
