Hello All,
I want to get the Black Diamond Front brake discs for the 2006 C180K - Sport Edition 17 Inch Alloys.
This one doesnt come with the cross drilled discs or the large MB callipers.

Im trying to figure out what size discs would fit this.

the width of the Disc Brake is 55mm, this, i am guessing is what is referred to as height.

Would anyone have an idea of how much it would cost to fit the Large MB calipers and cross drilled discs.

I gathered that mine would be 290 discs with 55mm height. (measuring them)

Is there a brand that does these in black, cross drilled and grooved like the black diamond in this size?

I did see the black diamond site that the closest for the sport edition was the 288 with a height of 45mm which i guess would not work.
The other option is the 330 66 height which would not work...

Thanks for reading....

Not sure if im allowed external references to products...

PS: Im interested in the cross drilled and grooved and the large callipers. more from an aesthetics point of view :)

Will this reset automatically when the discs are replaced or does this have to be reset..?? i was hoping to get it done at a local specialist rather than Mercedes.

The cost of changing the calipers is very high and it just cannot be worth the exercise.

The warning lamp will come on once the disc has cut through the sensor pin in the pad. once the pads and sensors have been replaced the warning will go out automatically

Saleem, Guess it depends on how much you want to blow on your car? If you have about a grand that you don't mind loosing, then look into the larger caliper & disc set up.

Its your car a C class saloon?

Hello malcom
that document has thickness's. would you have a guide of the diameter for the c class with sport package.

im trying to figure out what diameter and height combination works so that i can buy them off the internet and then have them fitted.

This is where it is getting confusing, I did some digging into brakes when I did my upgrade on my c class.

The W203 c class sports pack brakes are 330mm cross drilled discs with the brembo caliper.
You have measured yours at 290 ~mm, and you have said that the discs currently fitted are not cross drilled.
So you cannot have sport pack brakes...... But you should if it is a sport edition!
Hence my confusion.

IIRC there are 2 front disc options on the 203.

The standard discs which are 288mm and the sports pack which are 330mm.

I find the standard setup more than adequate on my C. If you want that little bit more bite, I would highly recommend either Red or Yellow stuff pads. If you want to go that little bit further you can get cross drilled and or grooved discs in the standard 288mm size. If you wanting to upgrade the brakes just for show I really wouldn't bother but that is just my opinion.

I shall recheck the size of the brakes...
The car is c class sport edition.

ive always surprised that they are not cross drilled.
I bought the car from an apporved dealership - maybe they changed them over to the non cross drilled ones and then under the service contract kept putting hte old ones back..

wonder if the big logo calliper stuff is just clipped on or pasted on n hv fallen off at some point lol.

Definately not. The larger calipers as pointed out above are made by Brembo and are multiple piston. The standard are single piston and I believe made by Lucas

I think the "sports edition" and "sports pack" are 2 different things but may be wrong. It is the sports pack that has the bigger calipers.

IMO I would save your money as the standard equipment is more than adequate for road use.

I agree.

Fitting larger front brakes can, oddly enough, reduce the car's ability to stop. As few people actually bother to to take before and after measurements, they rely instead on subjective measures like "feel" and "bite".

There its a 300mm disc too in the C Class line up.
I guess your right, there must a difference between sports edition, and spots pack.

Saleem, in a way, it is an advantage that you do not have the sports pack brakes, as replacement bits are cheaper. My car my project and hobbie so I have no issue spending LCD tv money on my brakes.

N.C as always, has sound funtional advice, but referring to you're earlier post you were not looking at the bigger brakes because you felt the performance was lacking, but for the look.

Modifications are not made just for function, but a individual style. I know how great a C220 Cdi stops on 288mm discs with Lucas calipers. But, specify sports pack from MB, and you get 330mm cross drilled discs with brembo 4 pistons. That's not done by MB for function, that's purely looks.

Try Zimmerman part number 400.1435.52

288mm x 25mm drilled & coated to prevent rust, sports disc's

Same size as you have now but drilled, GSF should be able to supply these.
