Just been replacing front discs and pads on a 2013 SLK 250 D and managed to snap name plate covers on callipers. They seem to have welded themselves into the calliper and when i tried to prise them out one stud snapped in and the other pulled out of the alloy cover damaging it. Do they provide any practical use to effect the brakes or are they just for show? . And is it essential to replace.
them?
Thanks
