Got a brake pad wear warning light on this week. There is a lip on my front discs and I am thinking of replacing these at the same time as the pads. Is there any advantage in upgrading to drilled discs or should I just replace with the same plain vented. Can anyone tell me wether there is 1 or 2 sensors on the front. I have a 2010 w204 c250 cdi. Thanks for any info.

Drilled discs are I believe purely cosmetic on road cars, and can have unlikely outcome of cracking of the discs.
But if you can find the exact replacement dimensions, you can do a straight swap. I'd be inclined to stick with discs from Mercedes to make sure you get exactly the correct ones unless you are 100% sure. Give Mercedes Grangemouth parts department a call for a price and mention you are a forum member.

If it doesn't come with drilled as standard, this is classed as a modification, so you should tell your insurance company to be 100% sure of cover in the event of an accident.

We have drilled front discs on our CLK as part of the AMG pack. The drillings soon fill with debris and the brakes while powerful are no better for normal road use than any other plain disc cars we've owned.

I would just go for Mercedes or other quality OE spec discs/pads.

Thanks for all your comments .I think ill just stick to the original style discs and replace both sensors as well if they are on both wheels.

Usually only one wear sensor on the O/S front and rear as shown in the kit in Post #3

Go for what was originally on the car, drilled/vented disks are there to prevent gas build up during breaking and thus heat provide heat dissipation

I just think without the holes you have more disc area to stop you . and with holes they will help wear away the pads even faster . JMI

You have one sensor on the front axle not one per wheel.

ECP have some good prices on Brembo Disks and Pads (I use them)

I fitted Mintex discs and pads on both my cars 3 years ago now ..Took the wheel off the wifes Saturday to do an oil change,, it makes it easy to remove the oil filter . And the disc was as good as the day i fitted it . But i will be changing them on my car in spring . This time i will be uesing EBC green stuff after i won a set of front pads on the forum few weeks ago ..I will now need the front discs to go with them .I have the EBC kit to do the rears .
