Hi, I have just removed my front discs from my E320 CDI estate 210226.

The new discs that i have been supplied with doesn't have the bearing section with it?

Does anyone know if this has to be seperated from the disc and put on the new disc and if so how do you do it or do i have the wrong discs????????

Hope this makes sense

Any help much appreciated

Thanks

Hi,
Can I ask how you removed the front discs? Did you remove wheel, caliper and then the centre dust cap, and undue the large nut?

That would be a dear way off replacing disks if the hub was part of it!!!

I would suggest that now the hub has been taken off, that you wash the bearings out carefully and re pack them with high tamp grease that MB supply in small sachets

They tend to fuse together with rust and age but a swift tap on the disk frees them up, I assume 74 is the torx grub screw holding the disk to the hub?

YUP. i hope he does that 'nut' nice and tight

I would not normally condemn anyone for having a go, but this once i would like to kindly suggest to the original poster that he enlists the help of someone who has a clue.

As Jib above one good heavy blow with a 4ib hammer knocks them of,,you could ease things a bit by lowering the hub onto a block ( not the disc)or something on the ground to take the bounce out of it when you hit it

Ensure you set the end float on the wheel bearing correctly, as its been undone.
Just try tapping the back of the disc with a hammer, as you turn it at the same time.

Assuming the disks will be replaced anyway hit the face of the disk also taop gently on the face where the bolt holes are.

approximately hand tight++, then back 1/8 turn. spin the disc then check end float by hand, should be minimal. if you know what hand tight means. and if you understand the consequences of overtightening or undertightening. and if you know what torque to do the allen bolt. and if you know the importance of not getting rust flakes into the bearing. and if you know what end float means.

the n/s clamp can become unscrewed if the bearing siezes. i have seen this happen twice, both times on 210s, not our doing. the effect of this is a wheel that suddenly does not want to go straight and a brake caliper that cannot help grabbing the disc while the disc does its best to eat the calliper. a very, very serious scenario.

You two had better be careful,,there are those here that will not do it without a dial gauge (not me)
