....and they haven't since I bought the car. Never worried me as I really don't like them....really cant see the point as the only time you notice cold leather seats is when you first get in...when they are still cold anyway!! However she likes them (uses them lots in her W169)....and since its now the only thing not working in the car I thought that its time to take a look. There seems to be some confusion over which fuse and relay does what....my handbook say fuses 44 and 45 do the job...they are both 30 amp fuses in the boot fuse board and are good. My handbook also says fuse 82....but that does not exist on my fuse board....Also online says that 62 and/or64 are involved....but those fuses don't exist in my car either....not even a holder. I've checked the relay.....allegedly relay F on the rear board....all good....To be clear I downloaded my fuse position map as it was not with the car when I bought it.....but it was for the correct model and year.
What happens is that if I turn the seats on the switch light up (all three lights).....my seat stays cold and the the switch lights turn off after about 10 to 15 seconds. The passenger side switch stays on....but again stays cold.....I think Ive occasionally noticed the front edge of the passenger seat warming up a bit. There are separate heater elements (base and backrest) on both seats....I find it hard to believe that all four elements have gone....so a at a bit of a loss. Not even 100% percent sure I'm checking the right fuses and relay.....such is the variance of the available information. As per usual any info gratefully received.

My W211 had the same issue. The heated seats never worked. When I sold it, the buyer sent it to the main dealer and they replaced a couple of fuses and they worked again. I'd been told the fuses were OK before buying the car and just accepted the sellers word for it.

Your issue is more than likely a break in the wires in the seat pads. Usually done by kneeling on the seat.
A quick Star check will most likely reveal the cause of your problem.

The wife has 2 conditions before buying a car. It must be an auto, & must have heated seats.

My wife likes a manual as do I....but we both have auto at the moment. Im not fussy about hight specs cars with more weight and more to go wrong......but you have to have basic stds.....so if it ain't got leather, AC and alloys I ain't driving it!

Heated seats…I never use them in our climate…just another load on an already overloaded electrical system in winter.

The S212 I had was specced with a heated steering wheel and to my surprise worked really well I think I used it twice just for the novelty of it.

I like heated seats given the amount of time it takes my diesel to get up to temp on a cold winters morning.

Really important on EV's now as turning the heating on can knock many miles off of the range

EV's getting up to temp tends to knock the range to approx' zero.
