Hi,

I wish to regularly remove the front passenger head rest so that I can lay the interior as flat as possible for long loads. (Windsurf boards to be exact) The head rest stops the seat from going flat, it just over laps the the top of the back seat when folded down.

I have removed the retaining clip that stops the headrest from being lifted out. But there is a wire from the loom in the seat that goes up inside the headrest making complete removal difficult with out taking the back of the seat off every time.

See pic

I do not have electric head rests, the back and forth adjustment of the pillow (for want of a better word) of the head rest is manual. I can’t imagine any one cabling up a head rest unnecessarily! Therefor I assume this wire is for an air bag in the head rest?

What I would like to do is just cut the wire off at the headrest and leave the headrest disconnected allowing me to remove it every couple of days when ever I go windsurfing. As you can see I have unplugged it, when I started the engine up no error warnings etc. so may be that is all I need to do?

Can any one tell me if there is a right / wrong way to terminate the socket in the seat so as to trick the car into thinking it is still connected to a headrest air bag?

For example if I cut the wire off from the head rest join the two ends and reinsert it to the the cable connector in the seat?

Thank you in advance.
