been advised today that auto rain sensor has been fitted wrongly, air bubbles ? caught under sensor, giving the impression that there are rain drops on screen so wipers constantly working. how easy is it to remove sensor and what sort of adhesive should i use to re attache if this is possible, or is it a new sensor needed. car was put on star at main dealers .

Search out the thread by sspeed where he retrofitted rain sensor lenses to the windscreen of his 203. There are links to suppliers for the lenses (they come with adhesive already applied)

MB usually advise a new screen is needed and this is certainly the easier option. Perhaps via your insurance?

It is mentioned the blisters do not stop the wipers from functioning correctly.

Delamination can cause problems and as above a new screen but Simon did fit one OK

What ever you do it will have to be reset on STAR

WIS does show that depending on the proximity of the blisters (delamination) to the lenses they may cause the RLS to give implausible actuations. If Star has shown this is the case I personally would choose to replace the screen. Autoglass did a good job fitting a new screen (with RLS) to my S203.
Perhaps your screen could 'acquire' a nasty chip or crack necessitating replacement (foc) under your insurance policy, ;)

just take a metal screwdriver insert it at the bottom of the screen where the plastic cover fits and try and lift out the plastic cover, the glass will chip and soon a crack will run all the way up the glass,, I found out the hard way as have other members

Here you are...

Its really quite difficult to remove the sensor.. I used a very sharp chisel to cut through the rubbery glue..
In your particular case you already have a sensor and so a new screen may be the way to go..
My C class did not have the rain sensing wipers and so I wanted to retro fit it..
My biggest problem was getting it coded.. It took a total of 4 attempts by different garages before it worked properly..
Again yours should be much easier because your car already knows it has the rain sensing wipers..
