fuel consumption meter on max 300sl r129?

is it normal for the meter to be far right on tick over .with vehicle standing still?
if not can anyone point me in direction of connection at engine side so i can check that all is well at that side .

No it should be over on the left - possibly a grounding issue? Does it appear to work during driving?

the meter is normally grounded by the float that is in series, if the float has gone the needle will go hard over.

Without checking I don't know how the fuel consumption is calculated - the float would just be for the fuel level sender Malcolm, no?

Sorry stats I miss read the thread, the fuel consumption meter is a vacuam operated device, I went through this a while back, cant find it now, and I will have another look.

yes its the consumption meter i'm having probs with . i am not able to drive it at moment .as i'm having it transferred onto spanish plates .so it not road legal yet .just trying to iron out all the little niggles while i'm waiting for paper work .
when i switch on ignition , the needle is parked , ie far left .when i start engine needle shoots straight over to far right .

the fuel consumption meter takes the info from the KE,LH,or HMF injection control unit, I think that there is a break in the PCB in the cluster, I did one two weeks ago.
