Hi All,

Quick question, i just read a thread on the US Merc Benz forum that there is a rubber 'O' (or seal) ring on the bottom of the fuel distributor. If this say gets cracked or has the usual symptoms of age (wrinkly, bad tempered, smell of pee! ) could this cause an issue with regards to hot starts etc? and general fuel/air mixture?

Many thanks!

I suspect that its more likely that your fuel distributor is clogged with years of crud that builds up in the fuel line....have you used injector cleaner recently...seems to be the kiss of death for fuel distributors!

Symptoms include bad hot starting, lumpy idle (due to over fuelling), stuttering from a pull away, which then clears once you get to 2500rpm

If you have also ruled out bad ignition, ie distributor cap, rotor, plug wires etc, do try and pull the plugs once it has been idling for a couple of minutes to see if you have any wet spark plugs (over fuelling...knackered fuel distributor). You need to do this quite quickly or the plugs will dry out, so maybe do two at a time and then restart, idle and then pull 2 more plugs etc etc

Easy to replace and I've got a good spare one in the garage which will fit your car if you want to buy it off me
