Greetings all. I have just got a 2002 Sprinter and when I took delivery, the fuel light was on. I filled up immediately, but the light didn't go out. After about ten minutes, the fuel gauge indicator started swinging up and down in a uniform manner, but the the triangular light still does not go out. Can anyone help? Thanks

the first thing i would look at is the fuel sender in the tank. If you get a diagnostic test done with a star machine it should pick the fault up.

Never changed one before so I think it might not be that, however there's a first for all things in life. Before you go spending money check your charge rate, alties are prone and when they go they make the dash flash like christmas trees, so if you've got over/under charge, that could be the fault.
Before you ask 13.7 volts any thing over or anything under 9v causes flashing of the gauges.

Before you spend too much time and money, try filling the tank a couple of times with premium grade rather than supermarket petrol. Apparently the sensors are quite sensitive and can get a build up of muck from supermarket petrol that premium grade will clean up. Might sound a bit strange but it worked on my CLK which had a dodgy gauge for about three months and cleared within a week of using premium, Once cleared I went back to then cheaper supermarket fuel and its been OK for about a year or so now,
