im hoping this is as easy a fix as it would first appear. driving along on saturday i started to smell diesel in the car. i removed the covers from over the engine and found the white item below had fuel dripping quite quickly out of the end of it.
on closer inspection, as im sure many of you will know, the pipe the item is connected to goes around the thermostat housing and is held on by a little bracket through a bolt on the thermostat housing and along to a 't' piece which is attached to this item
as this appears to my eye to be the HP pump, what does this pipe etc do and how do i fix it? is the white end available to replace, or does it indicate the early signs of the pump seals failing? ive plugged the end of the pipe with a self tapping screw for the time being in a bid to reduce the amount of fuel lost whilst using it for essential journeys.
