Hi there,

I have a 1986 190E 2.3 litre merc. I love it but I don't lov the probs I am having. I bought it and decided I would spend money on it. I have replaced the front shocks, front discs, front and rear brake pads.

I had to call AA (vehicle assistance) to get the car started last week. He tapped the fuel pump under the car and it went (after cleaning the plugs). Before that it just kept going rrr rr rrr. The dash lights wouldn't go on so AA could not tell us whether it was fuel pump prob or electronic prob.

Do my rear shocks need replacing too. The whole car creaks like a house!

not sure about your fuel line blockage (have you thought of fuel/OVP relays?) but as to the creaking, you can squirt WD-40 maintenance spray or similar onto suspect areas (balljoints etc) - this will obviously not cure the problem, but it might be useful in isolating the source
