Turn the key and let go, the car will crank on its own at this point, wait 10 seconds and crank on the key again the same way turn key and let go the car will crank on its own. Pump the accelerator pedal at the same time.

DONT CRANK THE CAR OVER CONTINUALLY AS SOMETHING MIGHT MELT!!.

You have air in the fuel lines and cranking the car is the only way to get it started, you should have filled the fuel filter with diesel before fitting it.

Sounds like some or all the fuel lines ont he engine will need replacing also, sounds like there is air getting into the system overnight.

Hi all,

I own a C270 model 2001 Mercedes. Few weeks ago, I start to have problems with motor start, especially when my car stay afer night ( or just 5-6 hours ). To start I must keep the electro-motor spinning to battery death

I changed diesel main filter. I observed when contact is ON, no fuel is comming from fuel tank ?!? I really don't know if this is the way it should be or some rear fuel pump is broken. But from filter, fuel flows through 2 more systems and I really don't know what they are :

- one black, just before filter
- one from aluminium, like a radiator

I had a plastic pipe with fuel drops at injection pump side, I replaced the rubber (no leaking anymore) but now my motor won't start at all !!!

Can someone exaplain me in few words the fuel flow or how to find the broken component ?

Thanks in advance for any suggestion,

jibcl500, thanks very much for so fast reply, I am very :-(, few minutes ago my battery just die. I thought so, I should fill with fuel the filter.

Other friend told me so, air in installation but how to determine where is the problem ? Yesterday I went with the car, started and stoped OK. I observe no leaking of fuel near injection pump, or near pipes so where the fuel goes over night ?! Something eat my fuel within filter... or just evaporate due to some old rubber or even small hole ?

I must recharge the battery...uh

It sounds like you have an air leak into the pipes causing the fuel to drain back to the tank as the car stands.

Have an injector leak-off test performed as this is the most likely culprit if you are fairly confident you have eliminated air leaks near the filter head.

You could fit a non return valve into the feed pipe to ensure the fuel doesn't drain back even if air does leak in.

1. So fuel goes back in tank after night ?... didn't know :) that's good, anyway I don't observe increase of fuel consumption so it makes sense.

2. Now the battery is dead, recharging, but when I have time after holidays how can I start the car without crashing battery again ? Should I fill manually the filter with fuel ? I really need to start car in order to be able to go to representative. The car has automatic gearbox and I don't think I can force to start by pulling with another car or can I ?..

jibcl500 - I tried your method but no success. maybe you can explain better how to do it again.

Thanks friends,

Solved !

Hi there,

I solved START problem. Was 3-4 old orings on fuel line pipes. Now car starts perfectlly but there is also a small fuel leakage from inside injection pump, on reverse fuel line but this one needs working inside pump. I'll see what to do after holidays.

Thanks all,
Happy New Year !
