    Hi,
We offer diesel economy remaps on most vehicles with an average 15% saving.
The bonus is more power/torque and a guaranteed diesel fuel saving...who say's, you can't have your cake and eat it!!
Please ask to see if we can save you money and fuel..

Nobody offers a 15% genuine fuel saving. Nor a worthwhile guarantee to that effect. If it was as easy as a chip, Brabus and MB would do it.

Ah, but the 15% is an average saving, so it could be 20% or even more!

    Snake oil anyone?

This is an interesting forum rule: -
No discussion, allusion to or encouragement of any illegal activity. Links provided to locations that deal with any such activity are also expressly forbidden. Illegal activities include but are not limited to mod chips, and file sharing of copyrighted material without express permission of the copyright holder.

I take it modifying the software infringes MB's intellectual property rights?

Then there is the rule about not advertising on the forum........

I'm in no way defending the OP's claims on gains from re-maps or his persistent threads on the subject but:
That to me reads he can advertise?

As for the intellectual property thing, are you implying that re-maps are illegel now? What you do with your car once you've bought it surely has nothing to with anybody. I've not heard of a case of a manufacturer taking legal action against someone who's had their car mapped, plenty of cases where the warranty was void though.

Yes it does void the warranty.

What you do with your car as a private individual is one thing. But when other companies use the software that MB developed and modify it for profit, that is quite another. Especially when most chip firms have no permission from MB to do what they do.

I don't know. Do we now let firms join as advertisers and then flood threads with their sales message? Bit sad if we have IMO.

Like I said, I wasn't defending that bit, in fact I quite agree with you there. The legality of re-maps is something else though. They may or may not be with MB's permission but they're not illegal. If they were, the whole of the modifying scene would have to live in fear of being arrested? That said, some should be anyway. :D

Do you have any links to expert articles supporting your view about the legality of modifying MB software etc as others have posted the opposite of what you are saying.

this is a fanchise so in effect you know nothing about mapping and just download one from your supplier and then have the cheek to charge £300+ for it?

No I don't. Do you have any saying they are illegal?
My views are purely based on the fact (?) that re-maps and chip tuning have been going on since cars came equipped with ECU's and that, to my knowledge, no manufacturer has thought of pursuing this through legal action. One would have thought that someone would have at least tried?

Having just had a little light read (sorry, I'm not bored enough to do more research) on the subject of IP, it would appear I myself have broken the copyright law by quoting your intellectual property above, same as you did with mine in your previous posts. I'll hand myself in if you do. :D

    Hi malc,
A gain of 18bhp/20nm torque on your model... :)

And without me scrolling back through the posts, if you do think it's "wrong or illegal" then why are the police having there car's remapped? oh, and I know of some ambulance's that have been remapped, so does that mean you wouldn't want a ride in one after a bump ect?
And yes I do have a franchise, but it's not just a matter of "buying" a map...
Right last one, I do pay a lot of money to advertise on here, thank you... :)

You have read wrongly. Neither of us has applied for copyright nor had it granted.

Now Now Guys.. No need to take all this personally. Steve has answered all the questions now and I think we should stop the debate.
